How To Get Out Cat Urine Smell From Carpet

The cat urine stain needs to be treated down into the padding of the carpet. First you will need to find the odor source by using a black light to find urine spots. By using a black light urine stains will pop out at you.

You can inject the padding with an odor eliminator using a carpet syringe. To do so you will need a Water Claw to extract the odor eliminator through the backing of the carpet. Your carpet cleaning hose wont be strong enough. So you will need a Water Claw to extract out the odor eliminator you injected with a carpet syringe.

For heavy pet odor stains the best thing to do is pull back your carpet, remove the infected padding, seal the subfloor with kilz, and replace it with new carpet padding. Once it's replaced with new padding - reinstall the carpet - then deep clean it using an urine and odor eliminator. Bam now your carpet smells fresh again.

How To Clean Carpet By Hand

Cleaning carpet by hand is an alternative way and I recommend to always do it. This is how . . .

Vacuum then sprinkle capture carpet powder onto your carpet. It will deodorize it, break the soil free, and help stop spots from reappearing. Use a carpet brush to scrub your carpet back and forth to loosen the dirt. Then vacuum your carpet again.

The last step is to use a stain remover on the remaining stains you have. I recommend FOLEX because you don't have to rinse it out.

Just spray FOLEX on the stain and leave it to do its magic. Once it dries vacuum it.

FOLEX removes most common carpet stains.

How To Clean Carpet With A Carpet Cleaner Machine

To do your best start with the method above -  Clean Carpet By Hand.

Once you cleaned your carpet By Hand you will need a carpet cleaner machine to do the heavy work.

I recommend a light weight machine if you are cleaning small stains, pet spots, and traffic patterns. If you are cleaning bigger areas that's really dirty, then I recommend either a Rug Doctor, or a Bissell Green Machine.

They both have bigger water tanks that cuts back on dumping and refilling. And they both have more power for rinsing and extracting.

Follow the directions that comes with the machine.

Pro Tip do not over saturate your carpet to where water goes through the backing of the carpet and into the padding. This will create mold, mildew, and odor.

After cleaning be sure to extract every drop of water you can out of the carpet. Make it bone dry. Turn your ceiling fans on to help it dry fast.

I Recommend A Portable Carpet Cleaner To Clean Your Entire Home. It Will Save You A lot Of Pain And Suffering.

If you are doing bigger jobs then I recommend JaniLink Steam Cleaner to save you time. This machine heats up the water to where you do steam cleaning (hot water extraction).

It has a bigger water tank that cuts back on re-filling and dumping. It has 500 PSI pump that blows dirt out. And it has a powerful vacuum that extracts up dirty water like a champ.

With this machine you can even start a side hustle to make some extra cash $$$.

The most important part using this machine is not to apply excessive soap and water to the carpet.

Make sure you pre-vacuum the carpet before using JaniLink.

For superior results agitate your carpet with a brush after applying the cleaning solution. Or better yet use an Oreck Orbiter.

A huge wave of professional carpet cleaners are now using the Oreck Orbiter to agitate the carpet before rinsing it out. This machine works wonders on removing dirt and stains from carpet. It will save you from back breaking work. Its a must have for professional carpet cleaners. That means its good for you if you plan on cleaning carpet yourself.

How To Get Carpet Dry After Cleaning It Yourself.

The most important step is to apply the right amount of water when you clean carpet yourself. If you apply to much water it will go through the backing and into the padding. This will create mold, mildew, and odor.

After you clean your carpet go back over it and vacuum extract up as much dirty water as you can. Other wise your carpet will be wet for days.

Turn your ceiling fans on. Open your windows to create a cross flow. Turn your exhaust fans on in your bathroom and above your stove to remove the humidity.

If its a cold day then crank up your heat. Your HVAC system pulls the humidity out of your home.

As the carpet dry's  water evaporates into the air and creates humidity. You can use a dehumidifier to draw the moister out. This will help speed up the dry time.

Are looking to buy a carpet cleaner machine? Read this . . .

If you are only going to use a carpet cleaner machine for small areas like stains, traffic lanes, or door entrances. Then I recommend a light weight machine. Light carpet cleaners have small water tanks. You may need to dump and refill frequently. But at least you don't have to lug around a heavy machine.

Mold is a fungus that breaks down plant or animal matter, like food, wood, leaves and dirt. It's present in your home and outside of your home. One way of testing if you are in a place where mold is present is if you are showing the symptoms above. DIY Carpet Cleaning Tips

Three Handy DYI Carpet Cleaning Tips

Carpet cleaning can be such a chore. Did you know that there are a few things that you can do that will keep your carpets clean and also prolong the life of your carpet. Here are three easy tips to help you and your carpets.

Carpet Cleaning Tip 1

Work out a cleaning schedule for your carpets. This may sound a bit excessive, but in the long run it will help. The schedule should include the jobs you do, such as vacuuming and basic cleaning such as a dry absorbent powder clean that you can do yourself. Vacuuming should be done at least once a week, but can be done daily if required, especially if there are people in the house who suffer from allergies. A dry absorbent powder clean can be done weekly or monthly.

Carpet Cleaning Tip 2

Remove any spills or stains as soon as they happen. The quicker they are attended to, the less chance that they will become permanent marks on your carpet. Have a little carpet stain kit ready, containing a spot remover, cleaning cloths and anything else you may need. Make sure that after cleaning up a spill, that all residue is removed otherwise it may actually attract further dirt, increasing your carpet cleaning problems.

Carpet Cleaning Tip 3

Have your carpet professionally cleaned - or - clean it your self. It is recommended that you have your carpet professionally cleaned at least once a year by most carpet manufactures. You can maintain it by cleaning it your self with a carpet cleaner that you buy from Amazon or another store. If you do clean it yourself make sure you use the right soap to water ratio. And be sure not to over wet your carpet. Over wetting your carpet consists of applying water to where it goes down into your padding witch can cause a mold and mildew. Be sure to thoroughly vacuum (extract) out the water from your carpet.

Professional Carpet Cleaning vs Doing It Yourself

Professional Carpet Cleaning vs Doing It Yourself

Professional Carpet Cleaning vs Doing It Yourself

If your carpet is at the point that vacuuming no longer seems to be producing a proper clean, then it may be time to consider carpet cleaning. You can either do it yourself, by buying a machine or you can hire a professional carpet cleaner. This article discusses the pro and cons of these two options.

If you decide to clean the carpets yourself, you will need to buy the right machine to do the job. Some machines include the chemicals needed, whereas others require you to purchase the chemicals separately. From there you will also need to wait for the machine to be delivered, read the instructions, and set up the machine correctly before you can actually clean anything at all.

A professional carpet cleaner will have a cleaning machine that is generally more effective then the ones you purchase from a department store. They also know how to use their machines effectively, which means the job is done more efficiently.

Another positive for professional carpet cleaner is the fact that they are trained in their field. They know from inspecting your carpet exactly what it is made of, and therefore the correct cleaning method to use. They are also trained in stain removal, so the chances of them being able to remove even the most ingrained stains is much higher.

Other advantages for cleaning carpet yourself, is that your own standards will be met. Sometimes a home owners standards are higher than the people we employ to fix things in our homes. Also, when moving your furniture around you will probably take a bit more care than a service person may.

From a price perspective, the amount you spend either way may actually be similar. The carpet cleaning market is competitive and there are plenty of companies out there competing for your service . By the time you purchase a machine and have it delivered, buy the detergent you may just have spent about the same as you would have if you had hired someone. It is only when there are extras involved that hiring a professional carpet cleaner might cost more than doing it yourself.
