How To Clean A Food Spill On Carpet

How To Clean A Food And Drink Spill On Carpet

In my previous article I wrote an article about how to clean up a food spill on your carpet by picking up the spill with a spoon or by your hands. I also said be careful to pick up the food spill with a towel because you run the risk of making the food spill larger by smearing it.

After you pick up the food spill from your carpet you need to rinse the carpet with water. Rinse your carpet with water using a spray bottle (spritzer) and blot with a paper towel or a micro fiber towel.

Most of the sticky residue can be removed with water. Do not over wet your carpet. Water should not go into your padding. If you over saturate your carpet to where the water goes into your padding the padding will take a very long time to dry and it can cause mold which you do not want.

A lot of the spotters say its a no rinse stain remover but you should still rinse it with water and blot.

The reason you want to rinse the spot with water and blot with FOLEX Instant Carpet Spot Remover is because soil will stick to the stain that's in your carpet and become visible again.

You will notice it a couple of weeks later after you cleaned the spot. The spot will become dark again because soil sticks to the remaining residual. So use the spotter after you cleaned up the food spill and blot with a towel.

Apply FOLEX Instant Carpet Spot Remover to the the stain and blot by using a paper towel or a micro fiber towel. You blot by taking the towel and pushing straight down. Hold for a few seconds and lift. The stain should be transferring to the white towel. Once the stain stops transferring to the clean part of the towel apply Folex and let it sit. Once its dry vacuum it.  The stain should be gone.

Dear Friend my name is Randy Lassiter if you would like your carpet cleaned for a fair price at a time that's convenient for you then please call (224) 805-6456 and ask for Randy. I specialize in low moister, fast drying, carpet cleaning... your carpet dry within a couple hours.

My Carpet Cleaning Process

First I pre-vacuum your carpet, apply encapsulation to your carpet, agitate it with a rotary machine, I let the encapsulation work its magic for a couple of minutes, then deep clean the soil with a high powered carpet machine. Plus I agitate and rinse out every black spot and stain that's removeable.

I pay special attention to your high traffic patterns by agitating and extracting them out. (Where I beat my competitors) I do extra vacuum passes that removes moister and soil.

Your carpet will dry fast. Finally I turn your ceiling fans on to create air flow, this speeds up the dry time, (your carpet should be dry within a couple of hours). I bring your carpet back to life.

Professionals are moving to encapsulation cleaning. The chemistry forms around the particles and crystallizes it so that it attracts more soil. The encapsulated soil breaks free from the fiber and is easily vacuumed up.

Encapsulation also gives your carpet a protective coating. The coating protects against wear, tear, and stains. PLUS your carpet dries much quicker which prevents stains from re-wicking back.

And before I go, I make sure everything is to your satisfaction.

Stain Removal

I specialize in black spot and stain removal. Most black spots can be removed. They usually come from some type of sticky residue left behind from a spill, dirt sticks to the spill and it turns black. Have no fear because I can remove most of them.

Color stains on the other hand are trickier to remove. Red stains, blue stains, yellow stains, and orange stains can be removed but you have to act fast before they become permanent.

I use the best stain removers on the market, made by the most reputable companies in our market. They will either remove the stain completely or lighten it up. But there is no guarantee the stain will disappear.

I highly recommend that you do not use any chemicals yourself on the stain. Because if you do, you run the risk of setting it, and making it become permanent. Call me instead.

Newer stains are easier to remove. Older stains are harder to remove. The sooner you remove them the better off you will be. So hurry and give me a call and I will come out immediately for you.

Pet Stain and Odor Removal

Urine, Vomit, Feces, and more

To remove urine stains I use Urine Stain Remover made by Bridgepoint. It uses surfactants to penetrate deeply into the fibers delivering a potent shot of peroxide that removes stains caused by urine, vomit, blood, and other organic stains.

It also contains the odor encapsulating and bonding power of Bridgepoint systems Hydrocide. As it neutralizes and eliminates the urine stain, it also neutralizes the odor.

If Urine Stain Remover doesn't get it out, it's not coming out.

For heavy pet urine stains, the best thing to do is pull back your carpet, remove the infected padding, seal the subfloor with kilz, and replace it with new carpet padding. Once it's replaced with new padding - reinstall the carpet - then deep clean it using an urine and odor eliminator. Bam, now your carpet smells fresh again.

Pet Odor Removal I use Hydrocide Odor Exterminator made by Bridge Point. It removes odors from urine, vomit, decayed organic matter, sour smells, feces, skunk, musty mildew odors, and much more.

To remove odor from your carpet, first vacuum the carpet thoroughly, then evenly apply odor eliminator so it can penetrate the carpet fibers. Let the odor eliminator work it's magic for 10 minutes. Once the odor eliminator has done it's job I rinse it out using a powerful carpet extractor.

Keep in mind odor may be hiding in the padding.

I Love Pets But Please Put Them Up Before I come In.

I would Be Happy To Do This For You:

  1. Make your embarrassing carpet look NEW again. Something you can be proud of.
  2. Make black spots disappear like magic. I can remove most of them.

  • A Google User. Randy did a great job for us after the record storm of July 2011. He saved our carpeting, showed up quick and saved us money over the big chain outfit. We always try to use local companies for repairs/services and finding Randy on Google maps turned out to be a life saver.
  • I made the mistake of buying a carpet cleaner from the store. Every time I cleaned it, the carpet looked good for a while and then it seemed to just attract the dirt. I called Randy's Carpet service and was very pleased. Randy showed up on time, did an awesome job and the price was way better than what I expected. The best part, the carpet stayed clean. Carpet Cleaning Tips - Stain Removal

Reduce Your Carpet Cleaning Workload and Remove Carpet Stains Immediately

It is extremely important if you want to prolong the life of your carpet and reduce your carpet cleaning workload, that you clean any spills on your carpet or rug immediately. This article discusses the best ways to remove carpet stains.

First of all it is important to have the right stain remover in your carpet cleaning supply cabinet. Years ago, there were different products for different types of stains, such as grease removers. Most new stain removers are now able to clean most stains. Just check to make sure that it is compatible with your carpet. For example, often wool carpets may require a different type of cleaner. Always spot test your product in an inconspicuous spot.

When a spill happens, remove as much excess as possible, always working inwards. If you blot the stain outwards, you could possibly spread the stain further. From there, follow the directions on the stain remover product. Some products require a drying time, and then a vacuum, others need the area to be rinsed thoroughly with water to remove all residue. Any remaining residue from the product you are using could actually contribute to further soiling, as this residue can act as a magnet for dirt.

Remember, the quicker you attend to the stain, the easier it should be to remove it. Otherwise, the stain becomes ingrained, and only a professional carpet cleaner would be able to remove the stain.

It's important to clean your carpet properly by fully removing all chemicals that was applied. If you do hire a professional carpet cleaner, it may be worth considering a stain prevention chemical being added as well. This will help make any future stain emergencies a lot easier to clean. The extra cost will definitely be worth the investment.

Hardwood Floor Cleaning

Hardwood Floor Cleaning

Cleaning Procedure

First I sweep your hardwood floor.

Apply Basic Coating I.F.T cleaner to your hardwood and let it sit for 5 to 10 min.

Scrub your hardwood floor with a low speed buffing machine.

Extract dirt and oils up with a high powered vacuum.

Mop your hardwood floor with a microfiber cloth and Basic Coatings Squeaky Clean.

Rinse your hardwood floor with clean water to remove all residue.

Then finally buff shine your hardwood floor with a white pad and a 175 spin machine.

At your request I can apply Basic Coating Refinisher to revitalize your hardwood flooring.  This gives your hardwood an extra coat of gloss, that makes your floor pop, and also gives it an extra coat of protection.

But first, before we apply Refinisher, we must test your hardwood floor for ACRYLIC POLISH. If your hardwood floor has acrylic polish on it from previous cleaners, the acrylic polish must be dissolved off before we apply Basic Coating's Hardwood Floor Refinisher.

Take Note: in rare instances the acrylic polish dissolver may have adverse appearance issues. In these cases your hardwood floor will need to be completely sanded and recoated.

Prices

Starting at $1.00 per sq. foot: I.F.T. scrub clean, Squeaky Clean, and buff shine your hardwood floor.

I.F.T. scrub clean, Squeaky clean, then apply Basic Coating's Refinisher to your hardwood floor for $1.50 per sq. foot.

Dissolve and remove Acrylic Polish from your hardwood floor, Squeaky clean it, and restore your hardwood back to it's original look using Basic Coating Refinisher for $2.50 per sq. foot.

Carpet Cleaning Tips

Carpet Cleaning Tips

Carpet care should involve more than just regular vacuuming and spot cleaning. Carpet absorbs more than just soil. It also absorbs oil and debris. The oils come from cooking vapors, from feet, and from pets to name a few. It is important if you want to keep your carpet fresh and clean that you follow these simple carpet cleaning tips.

Rugs placed strategically around your home will also help reduce your carpet cleaning time. Place mats outside and inside of all your entrances to catch the dirt off shoes and feet as much as possible. Also rugs in high traffic areas will help reduce the spread of dirt around the house and onto your carpet.

Regular vacuuming is also vital. Excessive sand and dirt can actually damage the fibers of your carpet. Once these fibers are damaged the carpet will actually stain more easily and be harder to clean. Regular vacuuming with a quality vacuum will help your carpet last longer and also keep dust levels to a minimum.

Attend to spills and stains as quickly as possible. Always make sure you clean the stain from the outside inward, as to not spread the stain further. Make sure your carpet is completely dried after cleaning it and that all residue is removed. Any residue left behind will only attract more dirt.

A deep clean of your carpets should be done at least once a year. If you have a lot of people living in your home, then twice a year is best. A proper clean ensures that oily film does not build up and start discoloring your carpet. It is ideal to hire a professional carpet cleaner, they will know which type of cleaning method is best for your carpet, and they also have the right machinery to get the job done right.
